  1. I submitted a listing and it hasn't showed up yet.

    The database will reject entries if there's something massively wrong with the submission. Then it won't even get to me for review. Make sure the show date was a REAL date in the FUTURE. Otherwise, just use standard alphanumerics and punctuation in every field and give it another go. If you save and foward me the "done.php" page, then I'll know exactly what's going on.

    The other reason your submission might get rejected is if it doesn't meet any number of the following criteria: 1) it's not punk rock,  2) it's not in the Boston area,  3) it's a mainstream or otherwise popular band that doesn't need advertising here. This is so that the site fills the need of a particular type of show goer: someone who wants to hear new music, can't travel far and doesn't want to get bored at the show. Limiting listings by these criteria help ensure that all of the shows are cool and that you find something good quickly. What's dumb about sites like the Boston Phoenix, for example, is that you can't sort listings by genre and then you end up scanning through zillions of shows.
